Why service dates get missed
Service dates are not supplied by DVLA and usually sit in an invoice, handbook, spreadsheet or garage record. A working van can pass the planned interval when nobody owns the booking or the current mileage is missing.
Following the manufacturer schedule and recording completed work can reduce avoidable downtime and make the next service easier to plan. Fleetkeep stores the interval chosen by the operator; it does not replace manufacturer or workshop advice.
How Fleetkeep's service reminders work
Add a vehicle, then enter the date of its last service plus the interval you use. That can be a calendar interval such as 12 months, an operational check every 6 weeks, or a specific day count such as 42 days. Fleetkeep also supports mileage-based maintenance tasks where mileage is the better trigger.
- 60 days out: early email. Enough time to plan around downtime.
- 30 days out: second email. Time to phone the garage and book a slot, especially if your independent specialist runs busy.
- 14 days out: third email. By this point you should have a date in the diary. If not, this is the nudge.
- 7 days out: final email before the planned service date passes.
Reminders go to your inbox plus any verified reminder recipients you add for operations, partners or managers. Once the service is done, update the last-service date and the next interval rolls automatically.
